Biography

Dr. Abate has been an Assistant Professor at Georgia State University, department of Physics and Astronomy, since 08/2014. After earning his Ph.D. in 2006, he spent three years at University of California Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He was a member of the faculty (2009-2014) at California State University, Long Beach before coming to GSU. His research interests lie in the area of experimental condensed matter physics, in particular light-matter interaction with nanomaterials, plasmonics and optoelectronics in novel low dimensional and strongly correlated materials.
